Questions about baggage:

Declaration of value

If you declare a value for your checked baggage, the liability limit may be increased in the event of loss or damage to the baggage.

Liability for your baggage is governed by the Montreal Convention. Compensation is calculated in what are known as Special Drawing Rights (SDRs). The Special Drawing Right is an artificially created unit of account of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The maximum liability amount is currently 1,288 SDRs and currently corresponds to the equivalent of around €1,500. The exchange rate is subject to fluctuations and is determined by the International Monetary Fund.

You must submit such a declaration of value in writing, which contains your items to be declared, at the check-in counter. A 5% surcharge on the value of your baggage as declared on the declaration of value will be levied at check-in. If your flight journey includes a return flight as well as an outgoing flight, you must submit a separate declaration of value for this flight. If the declaration of value is too low, Eurowings is still only liable up to the declared value. Our General Conditions of Carriage (GCC) also apply.
