How do I reserve a seat on the train at Eurowings?

Want to reserve a seat on the train so that you don't risk having to stand for the whole journey? If so, please contact staff at your local train station or at any DB agency across Germany. They can also give you further information on charges for reserving seats.

Can I reserve a seat when I book my Eurowings flight?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for a fee you can reserve a seat category (e.g. seat with more legroom or window seat) when you book your flight with Eurowings.

You can also reserve a seat later – up to before web check-in closes before departure.

SMART fare

The SMART fare includes free reservation of your preferred seat. A seat with more legroom can also be booked for €5 (depending on the route).

BIZclass fare

Seat reservation is available free of charge in rows 1–3 for the entire Airbus fleet in the BIZclass fare. It also includes a free adjacent seat for more space. Passengers can also experience the enjoyment of exclusive premium section seating with a nearly two-metre-long horizontal bed on long-haul routes.

Please note that seats in rows with emergency exits are subject to special regulations.

Important:

All regulations apply to Eurowings flights with an EW flight number, regardless of the operating airline. The seat reservation option (with extra legroom) applies exclusively to selected flights and depends on the route and availability. This offer may not be available on some of the following aircraft: A319, A320, B737, B738, Q400, E190.

For our partner airlines' flights, which do not have an EW flight number, the conditions of the respective airline apply. These can be viewed on the airlines' own websites. These partner airlines currently include Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Condor, United Airlines, Air Canada and All Nippon Airways.

Please note that a confirmed seat reservation does not constitute a legal entitlement to a specific seat on board the aircraft (e.g. seat 3A), but refers solely to the selected category (e.g. seat with more legroom).

What special regulations apply to emergency exit row seating at Eurowings?

We ask for your understanding that the following groups may not sit in emergency exit rows due to official safety requirements:

Infants and children (up to and including 15 years)
People travelling with animals in the cabin
Pregnant women
People with physical and/or mental disabilities
People with reduced mobility due to body measurements, illness or age
People who do not speak English

Please note that by reserving a seat in the emergency exit rows you confirm that you and your fellow travellers do not fulfil any of these criteria. If this is not the case, we are authorised to give the relevant passenger(s) another seat reservation, without reimbursing the reservation charge. In case of doubt, the Eurowings cabin staff will make the relevant decision.

Can I book an extra seat for a musical instruments or a child seat?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can call our customer service up to 24 hours before departure to book an extra seat for a musical instrument or a child seat for infants under 2 years old. However, the booking of the extra seat can still be made at the ticket counter at the airport. Extra seats are available from €10 per seat and route, as long as there is still sufficient capacity on the respective flight.

Is it possible to rebook or cancel the free middle seat?

Accepted Answer

No, the free middle seat cannot be rebooked or cancelled individually on the website. Please contact our Customer service by telephone.

However, a change or cancellation of a complete booking with a free middle seat is possible online. When rebooking, only the price difference to the new flight will be charged for the passenger's seat, but not for the free middle seat next to it.

How many free middle seats can be added per booking?

Accepted Answer

A booking may not exceed a total of nine seats (including the free middle seats), otherwise it is considered a group booking. As there is always one free middle seat available for a maximum of two seats, an online booking can contain a maximum of five passengers and four free middle seats.

Can I choose the location of the free middle seat myself when booking?

Accepted Answer

Yes, free middle seats can be self-selected depending on availability. Where free middle seats are still available depends on further booking data such as the aircraft type or the load factor of the flight.

Can I check in online when booking a free middle seat?

Accepted Answer

For operational reasons, online check-in for bookings with a free middle seat is limited. Please visit the check-in counter at the airport before departure to receive your final boarding pass.

Am I entitled to my free middle seat even if the aircraft is heavily booked?

Accepted Answer

If one of our flights is indeed overbooked, customers with a free middle seat will be asked at the gate if they would voluntarily return it so that other passengers can be allowed on board. In this case, the price paid for the free middle seat will be refunded in full. The refund will be made afterwards via our Customer Centre.

Is it possible to share a free middle seat between two passengers?

Yes, it is. During the booking, each customer can individually select the number of passengers and the corresponding number of free middle seats. The free middle seat is therefore assigned to only one passenger by means of the booking code (PNR), even if both passengers are seated next to the same free middle seat in the aircraft.

As free middle seats can only be booked for passengers aged 12 and over, it is possible for an adult and a child under 12 to share the middle seat (Example: adult reserves 8A and free middle seat 8B, seat 8C is reserved for the child).

Free middle seats can only be booked for passengers aged 12 and over. However, it is possible for an adult and a child under 12 travelling with them to share the middle seat (Example: The adult reserves 8A and free middle seat 8B. The seat 8C is reserved for the child, so both share the middle seat).

What does the free middle seat cost?

Accepted Answer

The free middle seat is bookable from 10 € (SMART fare) or from 15€ (BASIC fare) per person and route depending on the availability. The middle seat, which we would normally sell as a regular flight ticket, will be blocked. Therefore, the price of the free middle seat increases depending on how many seats are sold on the flight already.

Can I buy another free neighbouring seat that is not in the middle of the row?

No, at the moment it is only possible to buy a free middle seat, but not a free window or aisle seat. On flights with smaller aircraft, where no middle seat exist, the seat upgrade cannot be booked either.

Under what conditions can I book the free middle seat online?

Accepted Answer

The free middle seat can only be added to a booking online by customers who have booked a flight directly with Eurowings. Tour Operator customers, the B2B Corporate and B2B Travel Agency portals, as well as customers who have booked a flight with third-party providers are asked to contact the Call Centre or visit the ticket counter at the airport for booking. Additionally, the free middle seat is not available for BIZclass customers (the free secondary seat is already included in the fare).

What kind of seats can I reserve for people with reduced mobility?

Depending on the impairment, certain regulations apply to seat reservations for passengers on Eurowings flights.

Passengers with a cognitive or physical impairment:

Must not be seated in the first or last row
Must not be seated in the emergency exit rows

Passengers who are unable to exit the aircraft without the aid of a wheelchair (WCHC) and are travelling alone:

Must not be seated in the first or last row
Must not be seated in the emergency exit rows
Must be seated in window seats only

Passengers who cannot manage stairs but can walk short distances on foot (WCHS) and are travelling alone:

Must not be seated in the emergency exit rows

Passengers who require a mobility aid to cover longer distances on foot and are travelling alone:

Must not be seated in the emergency exit rows

Passengers who are travelling with an assistance dog:

Must not be seated in the first or last row
Must not be seated in the emergency exit rows

In the second booking step "Seat reservation", you select the number of free middle seats depending on how many passengers are included in your booking.
Seats with free middle seat can only be booked for all flights in your booking, not for individual flights.

You can still request a free middle seat even after you've booked. Contact our customer service or drop by our ticket counter at the airport.
