Frequently asked questions about Rail&Fly

  • A Rail&Fly ticket may be rebooked, cancelled, or transferred under certain conditions only. If you are unsure, please contact our call centre. It is not possible to change a name on a flight or Rail&Fly ticket bookings over the phone.

  • Yes, if you have booked a Rail&Fly ticket, you may travel on the day of or the day before departure, as well as on the day of or the day after arrival.

However, you must travel on the day you select when redeeming your Rail&Fly voucher code.

  • Yes, you must select a specific train journey.

Please note that you must choose a specific travel day when redeeming your voucher code. This can be the day before or the day of departure and the day after or the day of arrival, respectively. Please note that it is not possible to change your travel day once you have redeemed a voucher.

  • You can redeem your voucher code for a train ticket directly after booking your flight, but no more than 180 days before the day of the flight. Other restrictions may arise from the scheduling times of Deutsche Bahn.

We recommend redeeming your voucher code for a Rail&Fly ticket as early as possible.

  • As part of its strategy to avoid overbooking, Deutsche Bahn prevents new bookings across all of its sales channels for long-distance trains predicted to experience exceptionally high use. These are usually trains on which all seats have already been booked and it is no longer possible to guarantee the transport of additional passengers. These trains are then no longer displayed on eurowings.bahnanreise.de.

  • If you are unable to show your ticket on the train, you must identify yourself as a Rail&Fly traveller and ask the train staff to provide you with a temporary ticket. You now have 14 days to demonstrate that you were entitled to travel on that train.

Please do not buy an additional ticket. This will not be refunded.

  • In the event of a problem, please contact our call centre.

  • If you have booked a first-class Rail&Fly ticket, this includes a free seat reservation. You will find your seat reservation on your ticket.

If you have booked a second-class Rail&Fly ticket, you can add a seat reservation when redeeming the voucher code.

  • The regulations of the respective airline apply for flights operated by our partner airlines and those without an EW flight number. These can be found on the airline's website. If your international Eurowings flight has an etix® ticket number or you booked a flight with one of our partner airlines or via an (online) travel agency, please contact the relevant partner airline or travel agency regarding Rail&Fly ticket bookings.

  • As a first-class passenger, you enjoy free access to the DB Lounge.

  • Rail&Fly tickets are valid for use in Germany, Basel, and Salzburg (in first or second class as booked) on all regular scheduled trains run by Deutsche Bahn AG:

A Rail&Fly ticket permits the traveller use of local and long-distance trains, as well as selected non-federally owned rail networks. The permitted routes and product classes for the journey to the destination are displayed on the Rail&Fly ticket:

    Product class ICE:

ICE, ECE, TGV, railjet express, and railjet

    Product class IC/EC:

    IC, EC

Product class regional and local networks, displayed on the ticket as "Nv" (local transport):

IRE, RE, RB, S-Bahn, and selected non-DB rail networks (non-federally owned networks)

If the departure airport is not connected directly to the DB railway network, a passenger travelling on a Rail&Fly ticket may travel to the train station closest to the airport. The Rail&Fly ticket also permits use of the services of the partner network of the DB and, where applicable, selected transport modes of participating transport companies and regional tariff associations, in accordance with www.bahnanreise.de/geltungsbereich.

More information on the scope of validity is available at www.bahnanreise.de/geltungsbereich.

Important: Voucher codes must be redeemed for Deutsche Bahn AG Rail&Fly tickets before journey start.
