Publication regarding the female quota of Eurowings GmbH

The ‘Act for the Equal Participation of Women and Men in Leadership Positions in the Private and Public Sector’ stipulates that the Supervisory Board of Eurowings GmbH shall determine targets for the proportion of women on the Supervisory Board and Executive Board and deadlines for achieving this. For its part, the management of Eurowings GmbH must set such targets and deadlines for the two management levels subordinate to it.

Against this background, Eurowings GmbH first set corresponding targets in the past with a deadline to achieve these targets by 31 December 2016. New targets for the proportion of women were once again set with a deadline of 31 December 2021. The management set targets of 20 per cent of women in the first management tier and 30 per cent of women in the second tier. The Supervisory Board set a target of 30 per cent of women on the Supervisory Board of Eurowings GmbH and 0 per cent of women on the Executive Board.

At the end of 2021, the proportion of women at the first management tier below the Executive Board was 0 per cent (target proportion: 20 per cent) and at the second tier 0 per cent (target proportion: 30 per cent). The proportion of women in management was 0 per cent (target proportion: 0 per cent) and in the Supervisory Board at 33.3 per cent (target proportion: 30 per cent).

The shortfall in the target proportions that were originally set for the two management tiers below the Executive Board is explained by the internal structure of the 'Eurowings' business segment of the Lufthansa Group and its companies. Eurowings GmbH is responsible for flight operations and – having dispensed with dedicated management tiers – has only the administrative staff required by aviation law. All other functions are sourced from a service company within the Group.
