Can passengers travel with a wheelchair at Eurowings?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we can carry up to five passengers with wheelchairs per flight (not applicable for flights to and from the U.S.), provided that the mobility aids do not have wet-cell batteries or unsealed or non-leakproof batteries. The carriage of larger groups of passengers with wheelchairs is only possible if agreed with us in advance.

If your wheelchair is battery powered and has leakproof dry-cell or gel batteries, you must ensure that the battery is not connected and ready for use and that the poles are secured against a short circuit and isolated. The battery must also be attached securely to the wheelchair. We will of course carry your mobility aids free of charge.

Registering wheelchairs online

We recommend that you register your wheelchair with us when you book your flight, either via our mobile services or online:

In the second step of the online booking process, click on "More services" under "Special flight services".
Select your required services for both the outward and return journey, in this case the transport of a wheelchair.

Adding a wheelchair at a later date

You can also add your wheelchair to your booking up to before web check-in closes before departure, either online or via our mobile services:

Log in on the "My flight" page.
Click on "Add services" and then on "Special flight services".

Which means of payment are accepted on board at Eurowings?

Accepted Answer

If you would like to use the on-board service on your Eurowings flight, we accept the following means of payment:

Credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, Diners Club, American Express)
Debit cards (V Pay, Visa Debit, Maestro, MasterCard Debit, Discover)
Contacless payment (Apple Pay, Google Pay).

Unfortunately, payment with cash is not possible at the moment.

Question 3

Are food and drink available on Eurowings flights?

Accepted Answer

Yes, various food and drink options can be purchased at low prices on Eurowings flights. Fresh sandwiches, tasty snacks, hot and cold drinks – the choice is yours!

BIZclass-Tarif

If you have booked a flight on a Short or medium-haul route with a BIZclass fare, enjoy our special meal and service at your place. Your favourite snack & drink come at no extra charge. On long haul flights you can make your choice from the menu between two starters and a vegetarian, fish or meat main course. A dessert or cheese plate round off your moment of culinary pleasure on board.

Question 4

What services are available for passengers with disabilities at Eurowings?

Accepted Answer

Passengers with disabilities can of course board the plane first. If you and your companion require additional help when checking in, boarding or on the way to your seat, we are on hand to offer assistance. Naturally, these additional services are available free of charge.

Adding additional services

In the second booking step, various assistance options can be added to your booking under "More services". Here, you can also register that you are bringing a wheelchair. However, you can also amend your booking and add additional services at a later date, up to before web check-in closes before departure – in the "My flight" section.

Question 5

When must passengers be accompanied by a companion on Eurowings flights?

Accepted Answer

For safety reasons, passengers who are completely immobile must be accompanied on Eurowings flights. Passengers who are unable to orientate themselves independently must also be accompanied. You will need to provide your disabled pass marked with category ‘B’ to show that you need to be accompanied when travelling.

Question 6

What electronic devices can I use on board a Eurowings plane?

Accepted Answer

Since March 2014, the use of electronic devices (such as tablets, smartphones and MP3 players) has been permitted on board all Eurowings flights, provided that the devices are set to flight mode. Hearing aids and pacemakers also pose no problem.

Special regulations in the emergency exit rows

Passengers sitting in rows with emergency exits must store their electronic devices securely in their hand baggage or in the seat pocket during take-off and landing. This regulation applies to all Airbus A319 and A320 planes operated by Eurowings.

Please note that instructions issued by the flight crew must be complied with.

The use of the following devices is prohibited:

Mobile phones that are not in flight mode
Devices that are operated via wireless technology (such as walkie-talkies or remote-controlled devices).
