What is a codeshare flight?

A codeshare flight is a joint operation between two or more airlines and refers to a flight with a Eurowings (EW) flight number operated by another airline.

In late summer 2024 we expanded our bilateral codeshare network to include a new partner airline. You can now book flights to and from Athens and Thessaloniki with Greece's biggest airline, Aegean Airlines, via the Eurowings website.

We're working towards offering more codeshare partners for our customers. As part of this, we're working together with airlines from neighbouring regions. This allows us to offer our passengers simpler and more convenient flight connections between cities as well as new travel destinations around the world.

When a flight is operated by a codeshare partner, the customers will be informed about the airline that will operate the flight when booking.

What should I know?

The operating airline is your point of contact for:

  • Check-in and check-in times.

  • Flight disruptions, delays and lost/damaged baggage.

  • Rebooking and other services such as meal and accommodation vouchers, if required.

  • Travel extras for which a charge is made (e.g. seat selection, priority boarding).

  • All services offered at the airport (e.g. lounges, fast lanes).

Further important information:

  • Codeshare flights are operated with the aircraft and cabin crew of the partner airline.

  • Check-in takes place at the airline operating the flight.

  • For a booking that includes two or more flights with different airlines, check-in must be with the airline operating the first flight of the journey.

  • For free services, such as wheelchair assistance (PRM), please contact the point of sale.
