Does Eurowings have a check-in service the evening before?

If you would like to check in your baggage the evening before your flight, this is possible at selected airports. Find out here whether the service is offered at your departure airport. If you are travelling with hand baggage only, you can use our online check-in 72 hours before departure.

Does Eurowings charge extra for checking in at the airport?

Accepted Answer

Our airport check-in service is free for all SMART or BIZclass fare passengers. A surcharge applies to passengers flying with BASIC fare. An overview of our fares is available here.

If you are flying with BASIC fare but would still like to check in at the airport, you can add the airport check-in option when booking.

Question 3

I tried to perform online check-in but it is not working. Would I still be charged an extra fee for checking in at the airport (since I am flying on a BASIC fare)?

Our online check-in service is quite reliable, but we’re aware that bugs and errors can always creep in. If you are experiencing some issues with our online check-in, we advise you to go through the check-list below. It resolves 75% of all the questions we are receiving from our users!

Double check if online check-in is available for your flight. Online check-in service is unfortunately not yet available for all the airports we fly to.
Verify if it’s the right time to check in. As a general rule, the service is made accessible from 72 hours up to 3 hours prior to your flight’s departure, but some exceptions do exist.
Make sure that the information you enter when checking in online matches the information in your flight booking exactly.
Get acquainted with the airline that operates your flight. For example, if your itinerary involves flights exclusively or partially operated by one of our partner airlines, you might have to check in online via partner airline’s website. This should be indicated in your booking confirmation sent to you via email (most often with the subject “Your Lufthansa Group booking”).
Do you remember requesting or purchasing one of our special services (e.g. travelling with your pet in cabin, purchasing an extra seat for comfort, travelling with reduced mobility, transporting weapons & ammunition or similar)? If so, do note that online check-in might be prohibited due to different safety and technical requirements. In such cases, check-in at the airport counter would be conducted free of charge for the passengers holding a special service that has been confirmed and paid for (regardless of purchased fare entitlements).

If you by chance fall within those 25% of users who are experiencing issues that are not mentioned within the check-list – do not despair. Simply provide proof that you attempted to check in online to our staff at the check-in counter and they will be happy to assist you further at no extra charge. Please make sure to find out what we consider to be valid proof in such cases.

Question 4

I checked in online but I am unable to generate my boarding pass. Would I get charged if I approach your staff at the airport check-in counter?

Accepted Answer

Be aware that when you are flying from some airports (like Pristina, Tirana, Faro, or Jerez), mobile boarding passes would not be accepted as valid boarding documents due to operational requests.

That is why checking in for flights originating from these destinations is only possible via eurowings.com (and not from your mobile device or our EW app).

Also, you would not be able to generate your boarding pass upon completion of online check-in.

Due to exceptional operational circumstances, generating a boarding pass could sometimes be prohibited when flying from other destinations as well (either on online or mobile check-in).

Rest assured that in such cases our airport staff will be eager to assist you and print out your boarding pass without any extra charges and regardless of your purchased fare entitlements. However do remember that you would still have to complete online check-in.

How can I make use of Eurowings priority check-in?

You can select the priority check-in in the booking process. With our priority check-in you can check in quickly and easily at all available priority check-in counters (at all BIZclass stations).

If you are a holder of a Eurowings Credit Card Gold and have booked at least the SMART tariff, you can also use our priority check-in. Simply present your Eurowings Credit Card Gold at the counter.

Can I pre-purchase the airport check-in as an extra option at a reduced fee?

You can always pre-purchase the airport check-in option if your fare does not include this service free-of-charge. Purchasing it in advance as an extra service comes at a 50% discount. Additionally, all passengers also have the option to pre-purchase the priority airport check-in service. For an additional fee of 15€ / £13 per passenger, you could skip all the queues at the check-in and experience our “fast lane” option for the most efficient check-in experience.
