Excess, bulky and special baggage

Some items for your next trip simply cannot be accommodated in compact containers such as suitcases? Perhaps they are also larger and heavier than regular checked baggage? At Eurowings, these items fall into the category of excess, bulky and special baggage that can be checked in as normal baggage. This includes, for example, musical instruments or sports equipment.

Find out more about our excess and special baggage regulations and the costs for taking them with you on this page. We have compiled further questions and answers about excess and bulky baggage for you here.

Excess and special baggage

Bulky baggage describes all items that cannot be transported in compact containers such as suitcases. Baggage that weighs more than 23 kg, including sports equipment, prams or wheelchairs and musical instruments, is also considered excess and bulky baggage. However, these items are only deemed excess or bulky baggage if they exceed certain dimensions. Excess baggage also stands for baggage weighing up to 23 kg that you check in in addition to your free baggage allowance.
