As colourful as the houses in Copenhagen are, as varied are the experiences here. Copenhagen offers something for everyone and is wonderful to explore on a canal tour or by foot. In addition to exciting and majestic architecture, you will find the world's second largest amusement park in the middle of the city. Copenhagen's Tivoli delights visitors young and old with its colourful mix of rides, attractions and cultural and musical programmes. The city's landmark is Nyhavn harbour – the perfect place to enjoy the lively atmosphere or to relax at the end of a long day.
 

Away from the big tourist crowds, you can discover hidden oases in Copenhagen that are fortunately easy to find. For example, visit the garden of the Royal Library in the shadow of Christiansborg Castle. In Vesterbro you can stroll through Skydebanehaven, a hidden park behind a high wall. If you fancy rustic Danish food and a family atmosphere, be sure to check out De små haver – the little gardens – at Pile Allé in Frederiksberg.
 

Cobbled streets, colourful little houses and unique castles, but also modern architecture, impressive harbours and hip shopping streets – Copenhagen impresses with its versatility. But it's not only the lively city centre that invites you to stroll and wander around. Neighbourhoods such as the chic Frederiksberg, the trendy Vesterbro district or the multicultural Nørrebro district are also worth a visit and should not be left off the Copenhagen agenda.
 

If you like shopping or strolling through small shops, Copenhagen is the place to be. In the city centre you will find almost every well-known Danish and international brand. Here you can also visit Copenhagen's two large and famous department stores, Illum and Magasin. Away from the main shopping street Strøget, you will find many charming and quieter shopping alternatives with great antique shops, art boutiques and furniture shops. There are also numerous flea markets in the city that invite you to hunt for bargains at any time.
 

Copenhagen's inhabitants are enthusiastic cyclists. Dedicated cycle lanes and even cycle highways ensure that riding a bike in the Danish metropolis is great fun. Whether in a suit or a summer outfit, everyone cycles in Copenhagen. Even as a tourist, you can easily experience the city by (e-)bike. Bicycles can be taken free of charge on Copenhagen's suburban trains at any time of day. Copenhagen is also the starting point for numerous cycling tours.
 

A hyggel afternoon with delicious coffee and good cake is another highlight in Copenhagen. After a long day of sightseeing or spending time in nature, the city has a lot to offer in terms of cafés: for example, "Conditori La Glace", Copenhagen's oldest pastry shop, awaits hungry visitors with an exclusive range of pastries - including a royal atmosphere. For those who prefer a more familiar setting, the "Next Door Café" is the place to go. The cosy interior makes the café almost feel like an extension of your own living room. In "Bertels Salon", all cheesecake lovers get their money's worth. But be careful: it's not easy to choose between all the varieties. So you might have to eat two pieces.
