Portugal's second-largest city is known as one of Europe's most beautiful cities. Boat tours are operated on the River Douro and are a great way of seeing the city from a different perspective. Colourful trams also take visitors on exciting tours of discovery. Palácio da Bolsa, the former stock exchange located in the historic district, is worth seeing and resembles a palace. Other interesting museums include: Museu dos Transportes e Comunicações, Museu do Carro Eléctrico and Museu do Vinho do Porto. São João National Theatre is the Portugese national theatre. Porto Coliseum, Rivoli Theater and Teatro Carlos Alberto are equally popular locales hosting a wide range of events.
