There is plenty to see in the Portuguese city of Porto (OPO). The numerous port houses are a popular tourist attraction. The Port and Douro Wines Institute, which is located in the city centre, is responsible for the quality of the wines. Porto's breathtaking and elaborate 12th-century cathedral, Sé do Porto, is a symbol of the city and an absolute must-see.

Jardim do Passeio Alegre is a wonderful park and ideal for romantic walks. The oldest city park in Porto is Jardim de São Lázaro. In addition to old trees, there are also historic monuments in this park.

Portugal's second-largest city is known as one of Europe's most beautiful cities. Boat tours are operated on the River Douro and are a great way of seeing the city from a different perspective. Colourful trams also take visitors on exciting tours of discovery. Palácio da Bolsa, the former stock exchange located in the historic district, is worth seeing and resembles a palace. If you're interested in history, you'll want to see Antiga Cadeia da Relação, a former prison. The concert hall, Casa da Música, was first opened in 2005 and hosts a wide range of events. In addition to the historic district and numerous marvellous churchs, there are lots of museums, galleries and theatres to be found in Porto.

The Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis presents Portuguese art from the 16th to the 20th centuries, while the Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Fundação Serralves shows off contemporary art. Other interesting museums include: Museu dos Transportes e Comunicações, Museu do Carro Eléctrico and Museu do Vinho do Porto. São João National Theatre is the Portugese national theatre. Porto Coliseum, Rivoli Theater and Teatro Carlos Alberto are equally popular locales hosting a wide range of events.
