The Uffizi is probably one of the best known sights in Florence. As part of a city break to the most beautiful city in Tuscany, a trip to this world famous museum is not to be missed. It is here the nobility of the Medici dynasty assembled a large collection of the most notable masterpieces of their time. More than 1000 pieces are on display in almost 50 rooms. Many are unaware that the Medici not only collected pictures but also numerous sculptures, tapestries, historical maps and other precious items from the Renaissance period. These can also be admired in the well-lit rooms of the Uffizi. The most impressive building complex is reached via the Palazzo Vecchio; you cannot miss it.
