Eurowings GmbH (referred to as “Eurowings” or “we” in the following) considers the digital accessibility of its services for people with disabilities to be a priority. We are constantly striving to provide all users with an inclusive and accessible online experience. Our goal is to make our services easy for everyone to find, access, use and understand.

Scope of this information

This information about accessibility applies to the services covered by Directive (EU) 2019/882 and the national laws transposing it in the Member States of the European Union, as offered or provided on the website www.eurowings.com by the Lufthansa Group company, whose name and address is listed in the legal notice.

This information was created on 27 June 2025 and will be reviewed and updated as needed in accordance with the applicable legal norms and technical standards.

Description of applicable requirements

The applicable accessibility requirements for services are defined in the national laws of European Union Member States transposing Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the accessibility requirements for products and services (“European Accessibility Act” or “EAA”). In implementing Annex V to Directive (EU) 2019/882, this also entails the obligation to provide and publish information on the accessibility of services.

In Germany, the applicable accessibility requirements are set out in the German Accessibility Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz – “BFSG”); for services, the accessibility requirements are laid down in section 3 (1) in conjunction with section 1 (3) BFSG and in the Regulation enacting the BFSG (Verordnung zum Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz – BFSGV), which was enacted on the basis of section 3 (2) BFSG. The obligation to create and make available information about accessibility for services follows from section 14 (1) BFSG in conjunction with Annex 3 to sections 14 and 28 BFSG in conjunction with BFSGV.

The applicable accessibility requirements also follow from the national, European and international legal norms referenced in these legislative acts. The state of the art must be observed when fulfilling the requirements for services. The harmonised European standard EN 301 549 applies in this regard, Annex A of which states that the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (“WCAG”), conformance levels 2.1 A, AA, are currently binding.

General description of the service

Eurowings is a global airline. Its services on this website consist of enabling its customers to book flights and travel-related services, obtain travel information, manage customer data and use additional services such as seat selection, baggage options or check-in, via electronic communication channels.

The Lufthansa Group offers this service for several of its airlines, including Deutsche Lufthansa, SWISS International Air Lines AG (“SWISS”), Austrian Airlines AG (“Austrian Airlines”), Brussels Airlines SA (“Brussels Airlines”), Eurowings GmbH (“Eurowings”) and EW Discover GmbH (“Eurowings Discover”). These airlines provide scheduled and charter services to many national and international destinations.

You can find detailed information about the flights and services offered by each airline on the Lufthansa Group websites; for example, www.eurowings.com. Explanations of the services offered are also available there.

Descriptions and explanations necessary for the understanding of the operation of the service

As a first step before booking a flight through our website, visitors can obtain information about routes, fare options and additional services. After selecting a route and entering the travel dates, a personalised flight offer is displayed. This includes details such as total price, possible baggage options and additional services such as seat selection or booking change options.

The booking is completed and becomes binding by activating the “Book now” button, after which customers receive a booking confirmation email as well as access to their booking in their customer account or on the app.

Detailed information about itineraries, baggage rules, check-in processes and other services can be found on our website at www.eurowings.com. Some content in plain language is also available there. Other accessibility options, such as for people with reduced mobility or sensory impairments, are also described there.

Description of how the relevant accessibility requirements are met by the service

As part of an established process to ensure continuous compliance with accessibility requirements, we implement the harmonised European standard EN 301 549 and the referenced WCAG in the conformance level corresponding to the state of the art.

Accordingly, the service must be

  • perceivable (information and elements of the service must be presented to users in ways they can perceive),

  • operable (users must be able to operate the elements of the service and navigate the content),

  • understandable (information and the operation of the service must be understandable) and

  • robust (content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies).

The WCAG provides guidelines for how to design user-friendly, perceivable, operable, understandable and robust services for people with disabilities. There are currently three levels of conformance. In accordance with the European standards, we implement conformance levels 2.1 A and AA.

To this end, the following measures, among others, are taken on an ongoing basis:

  • Reviews: We regularly conduct both automatic and manual accessibility audits to systematically review our digital services for compliance with the requirements of WCAG 2.1 conformance levels A and AA and the standard EN 301 549.

  • Training: We provide continual, comprehensive training to our content managers, designers and developers. This ensures that they are familiar with accessibility best practice and can take these principles into account at every stage of the content creation and development process.

  • Integration into the development cycle: Accessibility is integrated throughout the software development cycle; from the initial design and planning to testing and deployment, a born-accessible approach is adopted whenever possible.

  • Specialised accessibility team: We have a specialised team responsible for undertaking and monitoring accessibility initiatives on our digital platforms.

Our website has been comprehensively reviewed by our internal accessibility experts based on the applicable accessibility standards.

In addition to our internal processes, our website has been reviewed by external accessibility experts. We have also accessibility tested our website in collaboration with people with disabilities.

We are continuously working to improve how we provide our services in accordance with all legal requirements. We provide ways to contact us to report accessibility problems and suggestions for improvement.
